Patient Education in the West, Gulf and Asia

Patient Education in the West, Gulf and Asia

In the past few years, healthcare has evolved both rapidly and remarkably in the West, and one significant change is the move towards patient empowerment; providing patients with the information they need to make the most appropriate decisions about their health and treatment options. This unique approach to medicine has yet to become standard in the Gulf and Asia, although as the region continues to make steps to adopt more western practices, we can expect to see patient empowerment becoming a major focus going forward.
In fact, we are already beginning to see evidence of this through hospital-created patient education materials. Therefore, we believe there is a growing importance in these regions for more customised, independent, and evidence-based resources, to facilitate healthcare improvement, and to ensure patients have access to the highest quality information.
