What role can you as a health care professional play at Patient Teacher?

The Patient Teacher will assign you to  one of the two roles; author, or editor.

Author – We would be grateful if you can be an author and you  will get topics from the editor, via an administrative officer (AO), along with Patient Teacher instructions for authors. You  should put relevant references from reputed evidence-based sources for the information in the content. You  should seek the opinions of  patients, or parents, or carers of patients, regarding the usability and readability of the material. Is the information  understandable?

Editor – Editors are practicing clinicians, and oversee the creation of 10 articles. Editors are responsible for deciding the topic, in agreement with the editor in chief. An editor confirms the quality of the final document created by authors.

What benefit will health care professionals receive for being author or editor?

  1. The Patient Teacher gives you the unique opportunity to share your expertise with others, with the aim of improving patient education in Asia and Gulf
  2. Provide the opportunity for you to become an author and/or editor of our content and other educational resources, to help raise awareness across the region.
  3. Your authorship can help to contribute towards a personal development plan, not only helping your patients but also paving the way for ongoing professional success.
  4. We will provide you with evidence-based materials for free to distribute to your patients in a bid to help to improve the doctor-patient relationship and boost patient confidence.
  5. You may find that the availability of these standardized, free resources removes the need for you to create these yourself, or spend time searching for the information.
  6. You will be able to practice evidence-based medicine on educated patients, facilitating positive outcomes, and improving the overall patient experience.
  7. You may find that you experience improved career and personal satisfaction by knowing you are delivering the highest quality service to your patients.
  8. You can take measures to reduce the risk of litigation and complaints by delivering factual, evidence-based information, and referring to reviewed standardized data.
